In this text, I have ranked martial arts that are exclusively for self-defense, more precisely, they include defense against weapons, self-defense mentality, fighting at all distances. Martial arts such as boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, bjj, which can undoubtedly help in self-defense, are not included, because they are not self-defense martial arts, they have no defense against weapons, etc. In some other ranking, those martial arts will also be included.
1. Kombato
Kombato is a Brazilian martial art or protection science as the founder says, it covers all distances of fighting, from defense against weapons, use of weapons, fighting with all parts of the body. Since almost, civilians can also train. In my opinion, kombato is the ideal self-defense art and that's why it's in the first place.

2. Military Sambo
Military sambo is a Russian martial art, there is a sports sambo that resembles wrestling and judo, combat sambo, in which almost everything is allowed. Military sambo is like combat sambo, only there is defense against weapons, the only bad thing is that civilians cannot train, although they can be very difficult to find schools. So a high second place.

3. Jeet kune do
Jeet kune do is a martial art founded by the legendary Bruce Lee, although there are many scammers, if you find a good jeet kune do school, you can learn very good self defense.

4. Mcmap
Mcmap is an American marine martial art, although it is not available for civilians, the training system is almost perfect, training that art you would be ready for all combat situations.

5. Jietaikakutojutsu
Jietaikakutojutsu is a Japanese military art that has a lot in common with mcmap because it borrows some things from mcmap, it was created from nippon kempo and tomiki ryu aikido. Like mcmap the training system is almost perfect. Not available to civilians.

6. Kyeok sul do
Kyeok sul do is a North Korean military martial art about which not much is known, but what can be seen, it seems to be extremely effective, there are one or two clubs of this art that are run by South Koreans.

7. Lerdrit
Lerdrit is a Thai military martial art that can be said to be military muay thai.

8. Military sanda
Although sanda is a popular martial sport, it has its roots in the military, where it remains the official style of the Chinese army to this day. Hard to find for civilians. It is based on kung fu and modern martial arts.

9. Filipino martial arts
Filipino martial arts are martial arts that deal with a lot of weapons, especially sticks and knives, they are used in the Philippine army but also in the armies of other countries, they are effective skills for eliminating opponents, they are widely available to civilians, the only problem is that in most countries of the world, weapons are the use of the same, especially knives that can easily kill, is prohibited by law.

10. Teukong moosool
Teukong moosool is a South Korean military martial art, which is similar in everything to these other martial arts, especially military ones, it is available for civilians, but the problem is that it also has katas in its training, which is completely unnecessary for self-defense.

11. Krav maga
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art that originated in Europe shortly before the beginning of World War II. It was made for the military, it covers all aspects and self-defense, although it is widely available to civilians, there are more fraud schools than good ones, so when choosing where to train Krav Maga, it is important to find the right school and the right instructors, so that you don't waste your money.

12. Jujutsu
Although jujutsu as such is no longer used in the military, it was jujutsu that served as the basis for many military and civilian self-defense. The problem is that jujutsu still maintains a tradition that is unnecessary in modern times, but if you find the right school, you can learn effective self-defense.

13. Silat
Silat is an Indonesian and Malaysian martial art, similar to the Philippine martial arts, it serves as a base for the military of these two countries, it is an effective art for civilians as well, but it has a lot of forms and choreographies that are unnecessary for modern times and a similar problem to the Philippine martial arts in terms of weapons.

14. Systema
Although by all accounts the systema seems like a scam, and many schools and instructors are scammers, you can still find a good school, near my city there is a school of systema that does a lot of sparring, self-defense drills and all that full contact.

15 Kapap
Although the curriculum and training system in kapap seems perfect, it is probably a fraud, kapap is an Israeli martial art similar to krav maga only much more extensive, it has a bad reputation because of Avi Nardia who tried to revive the old kapap and whom most claim to be a fraud and for which there is some evidence. In my country, there are two kapap clubs under Avi Nardia, and both are very bad, bad coaches, bad training, even if someone tries to use it in real situations, they can get hurt, but the membership fee is very high.

In this ranking, there are mainly military martial arts because they have all aspects of fighting and self-defense in order to be effective, in the following posts I will rank traditional martial arts, combat sports, etc.
